Sunflower Suprise in the Compost Pile

We did not plant this sunflower; it seems to have come with the compost pile (a pile of manure and old hay from our farmer which we were thrilled to have received).

While I did plant sunflowers in some other spots on the property, this is the only one that's gone gangbusters and that is in bloom right now.

It was a pleasant surprise!
