Exterior Doors Finally Painted
We have been chipping away on house rehabbing projects for the past 5+ years. These projects are largely wrapped up, but there was one last project that needed to be done. The paint on the two exterior doors was in tough shape, and the exterior sides were an orange-ish color. This spring, Maggie picked out paint colors and we bought the actual paint. That paint sat all spring and summer as our attention shifted to garden projects.
With a small gap between the summer garden projects and the fall garden cleanup projects, that created an opportunity to paint the doors. There was a narrow window, as I wanted to paint them in the garage and needed to do so before the temperatures dropped to a point that would be a problem for paint drying.
One at a time, we took a door off its hinges, carried the heavy steel door to the garage, and set the door on sawhorses, Each side was washed with a TSP-solution, primed, and painted. The interior sides were painted white, and the exterior sides were painted a tan tone called 'sand'.

The doors are completed and re-hung. This is the last major project for the house. It is amazing how the house has been transformed from when we purchased it. I can still remember sitting on lawn chairs in the living room, next to the refrigerator, as we worked on flooring and painting.
